I, too, have an opinion

My name is Elizabeth and I'm probably at the movies right this very minute.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

I feel like the tide is turning for the better with kids films.

IMDB Plot Synopsis: Angry farmers, tired of sharing their chickens with a sly fox, look to get rid of their opponent and his family.
  1. Charming!
  2. I liked the throwback to everyone’s other favourite fox movie, Disney’s completely awesome Robin Hood, when they played “Love” quietly in the background of one of the scenes.
  3. Mr. Fox’s obsession with heists and elaborately concocted plans to rob not one but three casinos farms was a little Danny Ocean-esque and I blame George Clooney’s presence for making me think this.
  4. I really, really loved Kylie. To pieces. PIECES!
  5. I know Wes Anderson’s “Wes Anderson”-ness is starting to grate on people’s nerves with its preciousness and carefully constructed scenes, but I still love him. I intensely admire his commitment to composition and colour and wish more people would carefully consider these things. I loved how even though this was a completely different film-making format for him, visually and verbally it still felt like any one of his other films. I’d have his babies, I don’t care.
  6. I liked that Meryl Streep didn’t sound like Meryl Streep. Bill Murray was too Bill Murray and not… badgery enough? I have no idea. Ash, voiced by Jason Schwartzman, was fantastically full of angst.
  7. I didn’t realise that ABKCO ever released anything other than the Rolling Stones’ back catalogue from the 1960s, but upon further research they’ve done a lot of other soundtracks for Anderson (and others), not just this one.
  8. I really don’t have anything else to say other than it was pretty enjoyable. Sorry, my New Moon review seems to have sucked me dry of my critical faculties.
